About Yvonne T.
Yvonne T. Griffin built her academic foundation over a decade of study. She earned a B.A. in English from Georgia Southern University in 1976. She returned to the classroom for a master of business administration at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, completed in 1984. The next year she received her J.D. from William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law, finishing formal legal training in 1985.
Her early career moved quickly into public service. In 1988 she served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Lawyer in the Commonwealth’s Lawyer Office in Hampton, Virginia, a role that placed her in courtrooms and involved prosecutorial and public-legal responsibilities. She stepped into legal education in 1991 as a professor for the University of Maryland program in South Korea, teaching students and handling course development in a cross-border setting. A year later she entered private practice as a partner at Tucker Griffin Barnes, beginning a sustained period in firm-based law.
The arc of her work reflects shifts between public, academic and private sectors. Her time as an assistant commonwealth’s lawyer provided direct courtroom experience and exposure to trial procedures. Teaching overseas broadened her perspective on legal education and comparative approaches to law. As a partner at Tucker Griffin Barnes beginning in 1992, she has combined case management, client counseling and firm responsibilities. She maintains active membership in the Virginia State Bar and practices under that jurisdiction.
Griffin maintains an office presence across the central Virginia region. She is affiliated with Tucker Griffin Barnes P.C., operating out of Charlottesville, Palmyra and Staunton, and also works from The Women’s Legal Group office in Harrisonburg. Those offices serve varied client needs across municipal lines and court venues. She continues to practice law in Virginia, where her work encompasses courtroom representation, legal instruction and firm leadership responsibilities.
