About Yi Chen

Yi Chen Kuo earned her Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2012, after beginning law studies in 2009. The law school years set the foundation for a dual-jurisdiction practice. Kuo joined the State Bar of Texas in 2012 and became a member of the State Bar of New York in 2013.

Her early years in practice were spent establishing a foothold in both states. Kuo was admitted to the Texas bar first and added New York shortly thereafter. By 2015 she had taken on a leadership role as Managing Lawyer at The Kuo Law Office, PLLC. That role formalized a small firm operation that serves clients who require counsel licensed in more than one state.

Kuo’s career reflects steady, practice-oriented progression rather than public-facing cases or academic appointments. She has maintained active memberships in both state bar associations since her admissions. Those memberships have been continuous. They enable Kuo to accept matters that cross state lines and to advise clients on procedural and jurisdictional issues that arise when cases touch both Texas and New York.

Colleagues describe Kuo as methodical in the office and deliberate in court preparations. She prefers clear, pragmatic strategies. Court filings and client conferences are handled with an emphasis on organization and timing. Kuo manages the day-to-day operations of the firm and remains involved in client work, balancing administrative responsibilities with case-specific attention.

The Kuo Law Office, PLLC operates as a small firm practice. Kuo oversees case intake, client counseling and litigation planning. The firm’s structure allows for direct attorney-client contact and hands-on involvement in each matter. Kuo has structured the office to provide continuity for clients who require counsel admitted in more than one jurisdiction.

Kuo’s practice is shaped by the dual admissions and by the practical demands of running a small law office. She continues to hold active bar membership in both Texas and New York. Kuo practices from The Kuo Law Office, PLLC, handling matters across Texas and New York.
