About Yanitza

Yanitza Schoonover built a path to the law that began in psychology and moved into courtroom procedure. She earned a B.A. in psychology from Florida International University in 2007. Five years later she completed her J.D. at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2012.

Her academic record is straightforward. The undergraduate degree gave her an interest in how people make decisions under stress. Law school provided training in evidence, procedure and advocacy. Those twin threads — understanding behavior and mastering legal process — inform how she approaches client matters.

After law school she entered practice in Florida. She is licensed to practice in that state and has maintained active membership in the Dade County Bar Association since 2016. The bar association work has kept her engaged with peers on local procedural developments and court practice standards.

Over the years she has handled a range of matters typical for a Florida practitioner. Her work has included client counseling, case preparation, and courtroom representation. She approaches cases with an eye for fact development and attention to procedural detail. She tends to prioritize clear communication with clients about what they can expect at each stage of a matter.

She works from The Schoonover Law Office, P.A. The office handles matters under Florida law and serves clients from the area. Colleagues and clients have noted her steady presence in the courthouse and at administrative hearings. That practical exposure has shaped how she manages calendars, filings and client expectations.

Outside of court, she has stayed connected to local legal networks. Membership in the Dade County Bar Association since 2016 has placed her in continuing legal education programs and local professional circles. Those contacts have been a source of referrals and practical insight about changes in local rules and practice norms.

Her path from a psychology undergraduate degree to a J.D. and then to practice in Florida gives her a mix of perspectives. She blends an understanding of human behavior with legal procedure in everyday client work. She currently practices at The Schoonover Law Office, P.A., representing clients in matters governed by Florida law.
