About William Thomas Ashley

William Thomas Ashley III took a steady path to the law. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Birmingham-Southern College in 2005 and completed his Juris Doctor at Mississippi College School of Law in 2008. Those classroom years gave him the foundation he uses every day in court and at the negotiation table.

After graduating from law school he entered private practice. Early work included routine civil matters and small claims, work that sharpened his attention to detail. Over time he settled into cases that require both patience and practical judgment: personal injury claims and general practice work. He handles matters for individuals who need help navigating insurance claims, medical bills and the aftermath of accidents.

Ashley is admitted to practice in Alabama and Mississippi and is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He has represented clients in state trial courts and in federal proceedings when cases moved beyond the initial filings. His courtroom experience includes contested hearings and motion practice as well as settlement negotiations. He approaches litigation with a methodical style, preferring to build a clear record and present plain facts to judges and juries.

Clients and opposing counsel alike describe him as pragmatic. He tends to favor a straightforward strategy over elaborate legal theory. That approach often means working through medical records, employment reports and expert opinions until the core issues are clear. In personal injury matters he focuses on documenting damages and crafting claims that reflect both immediate losses and longer-term impacts.

Outside the courtroom he spends time staying current on changes in state and federal procedure that affect personal injury and general civil practice. He reads appellate decisions and legislative updates that touch on liability and insurance law. That ongoing study informs how he counsels clients about risk, timing and realistic outcomes.

He maintains a practice that balances litigation and client counseling. He handles case intake, client interviews and the drafting of pleadings himself, and coordinates with experts and other lawyers when a case requires outside help. The aim is practical: resolve cases in a way that recognizes the limits of the legal process while protecting clients’ interests.

He practices in Alabama and Mississippi, and he is admitted to the Eleventh Circuit. He currently concentrates on personal injury and general practice.
