About William R.

William R. Brown earned his law degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1973 after completing a Bachelor of Science at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1967. Those academic years set the stage for a long career rooted in Pennsylvania courts. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Brown built a steady practice over decades. He has maintained active memberships in the Pennsylvania State Bar, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect a career engaged in the professional life of the bar and in the networks that support courtroom work and client services.

He serves as Of Counsel at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton. In that role he draws on years of courtroom experience and institutional knowledge. Colleagues rely on him for case assessment, courtroom appearances in courts where he is admitted and the kinds of judgment calls that come only from long practice. The title reflects a senior position within the firm rather than a day-to-day managerial role.

Over the years Brown has appeared in both state and federal venues. His admissions permit practice at the highest level of Pennsylvania’s judiciary and in the federal trial court that covers Western Pennsylvania. Those credentials have shaped the matters he takes on and the procedural settings in which he works.

Beyond private practice he participates in community governance through the Hamot Board of Corporators for the Hamot Health Foundation. That role places him at the intersection of legal counsel and nonprofit oversight, and it complements the professional memberships he maintains.

Colleagues describe him as a steady presence in the firm and in the local bar. He favors plainspoken legal analysis and practical problem solving. His courtroom admissions and long tenure offer clients access to experienced counsel for matters that must be handled in state or federal court.

He currently practices as Of Counsel at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton and continues to handle matters in the Pennsylvania courts and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
