About William Michael
William Michael Corrigan graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2002 and earned his J.D. from the University of Louisville in 2006. He completed his formal legal training in Kentucky and has spent his career practicing in the state. Those formative years at two Kentucky institutions set the stage for courtroom work and a career spent largely on criminal defense matters.
He began his legal career in roles that placed him in courtrooms early and often. He has worked as an associate lawyer at O Bryan Brown & Toner and later served as a staff trial lawyer for the Louisville Metro Public Defender. In the public defender’s office he handled arraignments, bench and jury trials, and pretrial motions. That work required fast case assessment, regular client contact, and courtroom presence on a near-daily basis.
Corrigan has maintained a steady presence in Kentucky’s criminal defense community. He joined the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2013 and remains a member. Since 2013 he has also been involved with Visually Impaired Preschool Services, holding a seat on the organization’s board. That combination of professional and civic activity reflects an attorney who finds time for legal community engagement alongside heavy trial work.
His courtroom experience is practical and direct. He represents clients at trial and in plea negotiations. He focuses on thorough preparation of the factual record, attentive client counseling, and clear argument in court. Colleagues describe him as someone who manages the details of a file closely and who adapts strategy as cases develop. He has experience handling misdemeanor and felony matters at the trial level in Kentucky courts.
Across both public defense and private practice, Corrigan’s work has been centered on the mechanics of defending people charged with crimes. He keeps current on practice developments and stays involved in state-level professional networks. He currently practices criminal defense in Kentucky.
