About William L. Caughman

William L. Caughman III has built a steady presence in Louisiana’s federal and state courts. He is a partner at Kean Miller LLP and appears in matters before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. His practice spans filings and court appearances across the state’s trial and appellate benches.

Caughman’s path began at Louisiana State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 1989 and returned to LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he received his J.D. in 1993. He moved into private practice and rose through the ranks at Kean Miller LLP to his current role as partner. Over the years he has handled litigation matters in both federal and state forums. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana and holds admission to multiple federal district courts in the state, as well as to the Fifth Circuit, allowing him to take cases from trial court through federal appellate review.

Outside the courtroom Caughman has stayed active in professional and civic circles. He is a member of the Wex Malone American Inn of Court and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. He also holds membership in the Louisiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Locally, he participates in Baton Rouge Green and the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce, reflecting an interest in community and business issues alongside his legal work.

Colleagues describe him as steady in litigation settings and attentive to procedural detail. He manages filings, hearings, and appeals across a variety of matters that reach federal court. He maintains an office at Kean Miller LLP and continues to represent clients in Louisiana courts and the Fifth Circuit. His practice centers on litigation and appellate work in Louisiana and federal courts.
