About William Henry
William Henry Henney has practiced law for more than four decades. He finished law school in 1982 and opened his own practice that same year. His career has combined private practice with steady involvement in community organizations around Minnetonka and the Twin Cities.
Henney earned a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1978. He then attended William Mitchell College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1982. Those academic years framed his early professional choices and led directly to the launch of his private practice.
Since 1982 he has operated a private legal practice under his own name. That prolonged period of solo practice has meant managing both the legal work and the business side of a small firm. His work has required adapting to changes in law and in how clients seek legal services. He is licensed to practice in both Minnesota and Florida, and his office has served clients across those jurisdictions.
Outside of his practice, Henney has stayed active in several local organizations. He serves on the board of directors of RELATE Counseling Center in Minnetonka. He volunteers as a lawyer for the ICA Food Shelf in Minnetonka and the West Suburban Teen Clinic in Excelsior. He is also a member of the Wayzata Masonic Lodge. Those roles have kept him connected to charitable and civic efforts in the suburbs west of Minneapolis.
Colleagues describe him as steady and experienced. He has run his practice through changing legal markets and shifting client needs. He handles the day-to-day work of a solo practitioner, from client intake and counseling to litigation management and transactional matters when they arise. The firm name under which he practices reflects that hands-on approach.
Over the years Henney has balanced private work and volunteer service. He remains based in Minnesota, while retaining his Florida licensure. He maintains his practice under the name William H. Henney, Lawyer at Law. His current practice focuses on providing general legal services to individuals and small organizations in Minnesota and Florida.
