About William H.
William H. Troupe has practiced law for more than five decades. He entered the profession after earning a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1972 and has maintained an active presence in Massachusetts legal circles since then. His career maps a steady progression through private practice, partnership and solo firm leadership.
Troupe’s academic path began at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he completed a B.S. in 1967. He moved on to Suffolk University Law School and received his J.D. in 1972. Those years set the stage for immediate entry into practice and a long career in state and administrative law matters.
Fresh out of law school, Troupe joined Laurence Locke and Associates as a partner in 1972. That early experience gave him exposure to litigation and client advocacy in a small firm environment. In 1990 he helped form Hislop, Carney & Troupe, taking a founder/partner role that lasted through much of his mid-career. In 2009 he established Troupe Law Office, where he has operated as founder and principal. His practice has remained based in Massachusetts throughout these moves.
Peers have recognized his work in labor and disability-related fields. In 2004 he was elected a Fellow of the National College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, a designation he continues to hold. He has been a long-standing member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives since 1979. He also belongs to trial lawyer organizations, including the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American Trial Lawyers Association, and he has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts State Bar since the early 1970s.
Those affiliations reflect the kinds of matters that have occupied much of his docket: workers’ compensation claims, Social Security disability claims and contested administrative hearings. Over the years he has handled cases at the administrative level and in court settings, representing individuals pursuing benefits and appealing denials. Colleagues note a practice shaped by experience in advocacy before tribunals and by long familiarity with procedural and evidentiary issues that arise in benefit disputes.
Troupe remains active in his law office and in professional groups that align with his practice areas. He continues to accept matters through Troupe Law Office and concentrates his work on workers’ compensation and Social Security disability claims.
