About William F

William F Sulton took a steady path into the law. He earned his B.A. in political science from Michigan State University in 2005 and completed his J.D. at the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2008. Those years framed an early interest in courtroom procedure and the structures that shape local legal practice.

He began his career immediately after law school at Sulton Law Offices LLC, joining as an associate in 2008. That role put him into day-to-day client work and the case management tasks that occupy many early-career lawyers. In 2010 he moved to Peterson Johnson & Murray SC, where he practiced as a lawyer and handled a wider docket. The move offered exposure to larger firm systems and a steadier stream of contested matters.

In 2018 he joined von Briesen & Roper SC as a lawyer. That step aligned him with a firm that litigates in both state and federal venues. Over the years he balanced courtroom appearances, written advocacy and client counseling. His work there reinforced a practical approach to resolving disputes and guiding clients through procedural requirements.

Sulton has maintained an active presence in professional circles. He has been a member of the Federal Bar Association since 2011. He also belongs to the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association, joining both in 2012. Those memberships indicate ongoing engagement with colleagues at the city and federal levels and a willingness to remain current on local rules and practices.

Colleagues describe him as steady and exacting in courtroom preparation. He has handled matters that required coordination across municipal and federal procedures. He pares complex matters down to essential issues and prepares filings to reflect that clarity. He also works behind the scenes on strategy, attending to discovery schedules, motion practice and settlement negotiations when appropriate.

He is currently with Gingras Thomsen & Wachs LLP. There he continues to practice in Wisconsin, appearing in state and federal courts and maintaining active ties to the local bar community. His current practice centers on representing clients in matters brought in Wisconsin courts and the federal courts that hear cases from the state.
