About William Clifton
William Clifton Doutt trained first as an engineer and then as a lawyer. He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1997 and a J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2002. Those two degrees have shaped a career that moves easily between technical detail and courtroom advocacy.
His early legal work came during law school and just after. He served as a research assistant to Professor Salil Mehra at Temple Law School in 2003, worked as a clinical student with the Philadelphia City Solicitor’s Codes Enforcement unit in 2004, and spent time as a clinical student with the Defenders Association of Philadelphia in 2005. That combination of academic research and hands-on clinical work provided a foundation for private practice.
Doutt entered private practice as an associate in 2005 at Roberts, Miceli & Boileau, LLP and rose to partner there by 2008 when the firm was Roberts, Miceli, Boileau & Doutt, LLP. He later took a lawyer position at VanMeveren Law Group, PC in 2011. Since 2017 he has held membership at Hadfield Stieben & Doutt, LLC. Over two decades he has practiced under different firm structures and moved between roles that included both firm leadership and individual casework.
He is licensed to practice in Colorado, Pennsylvania and Wyoming. His professional affiliations track a sustained interest in litigation and trial practice. He has been a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and the Colorado Bar Association since 2011, and he joined the American Association for Justice in 2013. His earlier bar memberships include the Pennsylvania State Bar and the American Bar Association; he served as treasurer of the Clinton County Bar Association from 2005 to 2010.
Those memberships, together with his courtroom and clinical experience, indicate the practical side of his work. He has handled matters that require preparation for trial and involvement in contested hearings. His background in chemical engineering informs how he approaches technically complex cases and evidence.
In recent years Doutt has practiced from Hadfield Stieben & Doutt, LLC. He continues to work across the three states where he is licensed, drawing on litigation experience, courtroom practice, and technical training. He currently focuses his practice on litigation and trial work.
