About William Blake
William Blake McCarty built a career that moves between numbers and statutes. He began in accounting and moved into tax law. The transition shows in the degrees he earned and the practice he established.
He studied accounting at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he completed a Bachelor of Science. He then earned a Masters in Taxation from Georgia State University in 1981. He finished his legal training at Emory University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1983 and completing tax coursework as part of that program.
After a few years in practice, he opened his own firm. Since 1986 he has been the owner of The McCarty Law Practice. Running a small firm has put him in the role of counselor, strategist and manager. He handles client matters directly and oversees the day-to-day operation of the practice.
McCarty maintains a range of professional memberships. He is a member of the Gwinnett County Bar Association and participates in sections of the American Bar Association, including Taxation, Business Law, Antitrust, Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, and Litigation. He also holds membership in the Georgia Association of Criminal Trial Lawyers. Those affiliations reflect an interest in several areas of law and an effort to stay current on developments across disciplines.
Licensed to practice in Georgia, McCarty combines his accounting background with legal training in tax. That combination shapes how he approaches client matters. He has worked on tax-related issues that intersect with business planning and estate considerations. He also has engaged with procedural and litigation topics through bar activities and client representation.
Clients and colleagues see him as someone who blends technical understanding of tax rules with practical legal judgment. He often explains complex tax concepts in straightforward terms. That practical approach is consistent whether he is addressing corporate tax questions, individual tax planning, or issues that touch on estate arrangements.
Today he continues to operate The McCarty Law Practice in Georgia. His practice emphasizes tax and related business matters, drawing on both his accounting education and his legal experience.
