About William

William Baker pursued parallel paths in law and business early in his academic life. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Business from Cornell University in 2002. He returned to Denver and completed both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration at the University of Denver in 2010.

After finishing his graduate studies in 2010, Baker established his practice in Colorado. His admissions include the Colorado bar and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, enabling him to handle matters in both state court and federal appellate proceedings. He maintains current memberships in professional organizations that serve lawyers in the region.

Collegiate training in communication and business shaped how he approaches legal work. The dual JD/MBA gave him both legal and commercial perspectives. He applies those perspectives to cases that require attention to legal detail and an understanding of how legal outcomes affect business operations and planning.

Baker’s courtroom experience spans trials and appellate matters. He appears in Colorado state courts and files appeals and related briefs in the Tenth Circuit when cases require it. His practice involves drafting pleadings, arguing motions, and advising clients on litigation strategy. He works with clients who need counsel in disputes that cross the divide between business and law.

At Hampton & Pigott LLP, Baker is part of a team that handles litigation in Colorado and in federal forums. Colleagues say he combines methodical case preparation with an emphasis on clear communication to clients. He also contributes to team efforts on complex filings and coordinates with experts when technical or business issues arise.

Outside of court appearances, Baker spends time keeping current on developments in state and federal law. He participates in professional groups to stay connected to peers and to follow changes in appellate practice. He lives and works in Colorado and continues to maintain his admissions for practice in the Tenth Circuit.

He currently practices at Hampton & Pigott LLP, representing clients in Colorado state and federal courts and appearing in the Tenth Circuit.
