About William Anthony

William Anthony Burck has built a career that crosses government halls and federal courtrooms. He graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in 1993 and returned to Yale for his J.D., earned in 1998. Those years set the foundation for work that alternates between public service and high-stakes litigation.

Early in his career Burck served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York beginning in 2003. In that role he handled federal prosecutions and appeals in a district known for complex criminal and civil work. The SDNY experience put him in the thick of trial practice and appellate briefing, and it shaped his approach to courtroom strategy.

In 2005 he moved to the White House where he served as Deputy Counsel to the President. That position placed him in a legal office advising on executive-branch matters and coordinating across government agencies. The work required close attention to constitutional and administrative issues and frequent contact with other senior lawyers across the federal system.

Burck entered private practice as a partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP in 2012. At the firm he has litigated in federal trial and appellate courts. He is admitted in multiple jurisdictions including New York and the District of Columbia, and he is authorized to appear before various U.S. Courts of Appeals and trial courts listed among his admissions. His roster of admissions also includes the U.S. Supreme Court, an admission that supports handling matters that reach the highest level of appellate review.

He remains an active member of the District of Columbia Bar. Over the years his work has spanned criminal and civil litigation, appellate briefing and counseling for clients facing federal investigations and lawsuits. He is known for combining courtroom practice with prior government experience that helps shape case planning and risk assessment. He currently focuses his practice on federal trial and appellate litigation.
