About Will
Will Hunziker combines scientific training and legal education in a practice that centers on intellectual property. He earned a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2004. His undergraduate work took place at the University of Colorado Boulder, where records list a topical major in The Philosophy of Law and Society (1997), a B.A. in English (2001) and a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (2008).
After law school he moved into patent and trademark work. In 2007 he began operating under Hunziker Legal Services, PLLC as a patent and trademark lawyer. That work has involved preparing and prosecuting patent applications, handling trademark filings, and advising inventors and small businesses on intellectual property strategies. His background in molecular and cellular biology has informed matters that intersect with the life sciences and technology sectors.
In 2010 Hunziker served as manager of the Artists and Inventors Legal Clinic. That role brought him into closer contact with creative entrepreneurs and independent inventors. It also involved coordinating outreach and practical legal assistance for people who otherwise might not have regular access to counsel.
Hunziker holds certification as a notary public for the State of Colorado and is a registered patent lawyer at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He maintains memberships that keep him engaged in both legal and technical communities. Those affiliations include the Colorado Bar Association, the Boulder Bar Association, the District of Colorado Federal Court Bar Association, and local groups such as the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and the Boulder/Denver technology meetups. He is also listed as a member of Boulder/Front Range Mensa.
His practice blends client counseling with procedural work before the USPTO and federal courts. He spends time preparing technical disclosures and translating scientific concepts into the language patent offices require. He also assists with trademark clearance and registration, and with the contractual and business questions that arise when inventions move toward commercialization.
Hunziker maintains an active presence in the Boulder and Denver professional communities and continues to participate in technology meetups and local business groups. He practices from Hunziker Legal Services, PLLC, where he concentrates on patent and trademark matters and related business counseling.
