About Walter

Walter Kelley earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1992. He returned to school a decade later and received his J.D. from New England Law | Boston in 2003. The two degrees set a foundation that he would use to build a practice and a role in the local legal community.

He began practicing in Massachusetts after law school and moved into leadership roles fairly quickly. In 2007 he became managing partner of the Walt Kelley Law Firm. Four years later, in 2011, he took on the managing partner role at Bernheim Kelley, LLC. Those positions reflect a mix of day-to-day practice and firm management. They also show a pattern of taking responsibility for both client files and the operations of small firms.

Kelley has been active in professional organizations for most of his career. Since 2007 he has served on the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers and has chaired its Education Committee. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the Plymouth County Bar Association, and the Massachusetts Bar Association, with membership in each listed from 2007 to the present. His committee work involves planning educational programs for other lawyers and participating in discussions about practice standards and courtroom procedure.

Colleagues describe Kelley as a lawyer who balances courtroom work with administrative duties. He has handled the responsibilities that come with running small firms, including supervising staff, managing caseloads, and coordinating litigation strategy. He practices in Massachusetts courts and has developed experience in trial practice through his association work and courtroom appearances. That trial experience informs how he prepares cases and works with clients.

Kelley maintains offices under the Walt Kelley Law Firm name. He has continued to participate in bar activities while overseeing casework and firm matters. His career path shows steady involvement in the legal community and a recurring role in educating other lawyers about trial practice and professional issues. He currently practices from the Walt Kelley Law Firm in Massachusetts, where his work centers on trial work and firm management.
