About Von Alex

Von Alex Karian built his legal foundation through focused study of law and taxation. He earned his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and then pursued an LL.M. in Taxation at New York University School of Law. Those academic choices shaped the technical side of his practice and informed his approach to complex tax questions.

After completing his formal education he established his practice in Michigan and maintains licensure there. His early years in practice involved advising clients on tax compliance and transactional matters. Over time he expanded the practice to serve both individuals and businesses, handling matters that require both technical tax analysis and practical problem-solving.

Karian’s work spans a range of tax-related issues. He advises on federal and state tax planning, tax implications of business formations and reorganizations, and tax aspects of estate planning. He also assists clients with voluntary disclosure, compliance reviews, and responses to audits. In transactional work he prepares and reviews agreements while considering tax consequences for the parties involved.

He keeps current through membership in professional associations and ongoing continuing legal education. Those connections provide access to recent developments in tax law and to peer dialogue about evolving practice approaches. Colleagues describe his approach as methodical: he identifies the governing rules, considers the client’s practical objectives, and maps options that balance tax outcomes with business realities.

Karian practices from an office that bears his name, Karian & Associates, PLLC, based in Michigan. He handles client matters directly and often works with other professionals, including accountants and financial advisors, to coordinate multi-disciplinary solutions. He publishes or speaks only when the opportunity arises to address specific technical topics for professional audiences. His current practice concentrates on tax law and related matters.
