About Viral
Viral Mehta earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Davidson College in 2005 and a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2009. He moved from the classroom to the courtroom without delay. Those academic years shaped an interest in the rules that govern work, injury and compensation.
Early in his career Mehta was associated with McAngus Goudelock & Courie beginning in 2009, listed as a partner. He spent those years building courtroom experience and learning the practical mechanics of workers’ compensation litigation in North Carolina. The record from that period reflects steady engagement in cases that required both procedural precision and an attention to claimant and employer concerns.
In 2020 he joined The Olsinski Law Office as a lawyer and mediator. That role expanded his practice into alternative dispute resolution. He handled contested matters and worked to settle disputes outside of trial when possible. Colleagues and opposing counsel reported frequent interactions with him in both formal hearings and mediated sessions.
Mehta formed Mehta & McConnell, PLLC and in 2021 took the title of managing lawyer and mediator. The firm setting has allowed him to supervise cases and to shape how mediation is used alongside traditional litigation. He manages files, prepares for hearings and conducts mediations himself. The managing role also includes administrative duties tied to running a small law practice.
He is a Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law through the North Carolina State Bar. That credential signals a focused credentialing process and peer review within the state bar’s specialty program. Mehta is licensed to practice in North Carolina and handles matters that range from initial claims and benefit disputes to contested hearings and appeals.
Mehta’s courtroom work and mediation practice reflect two different approaches to dispute resolution. In hearings he pursues evidence and advocates under procedural rules. In mediation he attempts negotiated outcomes that avoid protracted litigation. Both strands of work draw on his familiarity with the statutory framework for workers’ compensation and the practical steps needed to move a file toward resolution.
He currently practices at Mehta & McConnell, PLLC, handling workers' compensation matters and serving as a mediator.
