About Vinoo P.

Vinoo P. Varghese earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2000 after completing a B.A. at New York University in 1996. His legal education began in New York and led quickly into courtroom work. The early credentials placed him on a path that would alternate between public prosecution and private practice.

He started his career in the Kings County District Attorney's Office in 2000 as an assistant district lawyer. That role gave him frontline courtroom experience handling criminal matters in one of the nation's busiest trial calendars. After moving into private practice, he founded Varghese & Associates, P.C., building a practice that has repeatedly appeared in both state and federal court. The firm bears his name and serves as the base for his litigation work.

He has taught as part of the Harvard Law School Trial Advocacy Workshop in 2019, joining other faculty to train lawyers in trial techniques and courtroom strategy. On the federal level he is admitted in a broad set of jurisdictions. Those include the U.S. Supreme Court, the D.C. Circuit and the Second Circuit, as well as a number of U.S. District Courts across several states. Among the district courts listed are those in New York (Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western), Texas (Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western), the Western District of Pennsylvania, the District of Colorado, the District of Connecticut, the Western District of Oklahoma and the Eastern District of Michigan. He also appears in the District of Columbia courts. That range of admissions reflects a career that regularly engages federal procedures and appellate practice.

His professional memberships span local and national bar organizations. He holds memberships in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and several county bar associations, including those in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, New York County and Westchester. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the Asian American Bar Association of New York. He is also listed with the North American South Asian Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association of New York and the Forbes Business Council. These affiliations connect him to both trial-focused and business-oriented legal communities.

Today he practices through Varghese & Associates, P.C., handling matters in the federal and state courts to which he is admitted. He continues to combine courtroom work, teaching engagements and professional association involvement in his current practice focus.
