About Vel
Vel Belushin earned his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1999. He entered the legal profession at the turn of the century, drawing on his law school training as he prepared for practice in New York. His academic credentials are the starting point for a career spent largely in litigation and trial work.
He joined Belushin Law Office, P.C. and became a partner there in 2003. Over the years his role at the firm has centered on representing clients in contested matters. He is admitted to the New York bar and maintains memberships in several professional associations tied to trial and personal injury practice. Those memberships include the American Association for Justice, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the National Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, and the Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Belushin also participates in local and national bar organizations. He holds current memberships in the New York City Bar Association, the Brooklyn Bar Association and the American Bar Association. The New York City Bar Association lists him as active in pro bono efforts. These affiliations reflect ongoing contact with peers, court practitioners and developments in litigation practice rather than any single public office or governing role.
Colleagues and peers see him as a lawyer rooted in courtroom practice. His professional track centers on trials, depositions and pretrial strategy. He has handled matters that require courtroom preparation and the management of fact investigation, expert testimony and procedural motion practice. His work typically involves the dynamics of witness preparation and evidentiary challenges that shape how cases proceed in New York courts.
Outside of direct litigation tasks, Belushin’s practice includes client counseling about case options and potential outcomes. He communicates regularly with clients on strategy and settlement considerations. He also oversees case teams at the firm and coordinates with outside experts when specialized analysis is necessary.
Belushin continues to practice through Belushin Law Office, P.C. He remains active in trial and personal injury circles and in local bar activities. His current practice concentrates on personal injury and civil trial work.
