About Ty

Ty Smith completed his undergraduate studies at Transylvania University in 2002 and earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2005. Those formative years set the tone for a career spent largely in litigation. He moved from the classroom to courtrooms and professional associations that emphasize trial work.

He practices as an attorney at Morgan & Morgan. The firm is where he has built his professional practice and applied the skills he developed in law school. Courtroom preparation, motion practice and client counseling are recurring features of his day-to-day work. He has experience guiding cases from initial investigation through pretrial stages and, when necessary, into trial.

Smith maintains active involvement in professional groups that reflect his litigation interests. He holds a current membership on a Board of Governors, a role that places him in a governance and policy environment within the legal community. He is also a member of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations connect him to peers who handle civil trials and to continuing education resources aimed at trial practitioners.

Colleagues describe his practice as litigation-oriented. He spends considerable time drafting pleadings, preparing discovery, taking depositions and arguing motions. He also prepares witnesses and evidence for trial. His work tends to involve adversarial proceedings where courtroom advocacy matters. His association memberships reinforce that orientation and provide him with forums for staying current on trial technique and procedural developments.

Outside the courtroom, Smith participates in meetings and programs offered by his professional organizations. Membership on the Board of Governors gives him exposure to the administrative and policy aspects of the legal profession. The Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice offer seminars and networking that inform his practice and help him evaluate case strategy.

He has kept his practice centered at Morgan & Morgan, where he applies trial experience and association resources to client matters. He currently practices at Morgan & Morgan, handling trial litigation and civil advocacy.
