About Trent
Trent West began building a legal career that balances courtroom work and community involvement. He took a conventional path through legal education and moved quickly into practice. Over a decade in Illinois law has shaped how he approaches clients and cases.
He earned a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2011 after undergraduate study at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he completed a B.S. in criminal justice in 2007. The academic background in criminal justice and litigation provided a foundation for both trial work and office-based preparation.
West started his legal practice as an associate at Burnside, Johnston & Sheafor, P.C. in 2011. He then joined the Madison County State's Lawyer's Office, serving as an Assistant State's Lawyer in 2012 and 2013. That period placed him in regular contact with courtroom proceedings and the day-to-day demands of public-office practice. After returning to private practice, he held associate positions in 2014 with Brown & Brown and Brown & Brown LLP. In 2016 he joined Glenn & West, Lawyers at Law as an associate. Two years later he became a lawyer-owner at the Law Offices of Glenn & West, LLC, a firm he has led since 2018.
Outside the office, West has remained active in local institutions. He has been a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association since 2016. He also took on a leadership role in the Metro East Community Rotary Club, serving as its president beginning in 2016. Those roles reflect steady participation in regional professional and civic circles.
Career moves show a blend of public-sector and private practice experience. His time in the Madison County State's Lawyer's Office exposed him to prosecutorial responsibilities and courtroom routines. Subsequent years in various law firms broadened his exposure to client representation and litigation strategy. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in preparing cases and attentive to procedural detail.
Today West leads the Law Offices of Glenn & West, LLC in Illinois. He manages the firm's caseload and continues to appear in state courts. His practice concentrates on litigation in Illinois state courts, drawing on years of courtroom experience and local legal ties.
