Travis Shaw built a steady path into the law. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in College Station in 2000. He returned to Houston for legal studies and received a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2011. Those years in Texas shaped his early professional life and anchored his practice in state courts.
Fresh out of law school, he joined Matthews and Associates in 2011. The move put him into day-to-day client work quickly. He handled case preparation, worked on filings and spent time in hearings. The role offered immediate courtroom exposure and a chance to learn the practical rhythms of contested matters.
A year later he moved again, this time into a partnership. In 2012 he became a partner at Patout & Shaw, PLLC. The change marked a shift from employee to principal. He took on a broader set of responsibilities, overseeing case strategy and helping shape office operations. Colleagues and clients relied on him for steady counsel and a pragmatic approach to resolving disputes.
Shaw’s practice is based in Houston. His office is located at the Houston Technology Center, where he maintains a local presence and meets with clients. Being in that setting keeps him close to the city’s courts and the network of practitioners who handle civil matters across the region.
Across more than a decade in practice he has balanced client demands with the administrative duties of partnership. He has negotiated settlements, prepared litigation materials and worked in court settings. He has also supervised other lawyers and coordinated with experts when cases required specialized input. Those activities reflect the routine responsibilities of an attorney who manages both files and firm affairs.
He is licensed to practice in Texas. He continues to represent clients from his Houston office and handles matters that arise in Texas state courts. His current practice focuses on representing clients and managing litigation in Texas state courts.
