About Tom

Tom Omondi trained first as a nurse and later as a lawyer. He holds a Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law, earned in 2019. He also earned an MBA and an M.S. in Nursing Administration from the University of Houston–Victoria in 2014. His undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Nursing from Prairie View A&M University, completed in 2007.

His early career ran through the clinical ranks. He worked as an RN consultant and wellness director at senior living facilities and served as a certified nurse aide beginning in 2003. By 2009 he was a staff nurse in intensive care and later took on house supervisor duties at Patients Medical Center. In 2011 he held multiple roles at Texas Specialty Hospital, from ICU staff nurse to chief nursing officer and house supervisor. He moved into executive leadership in 2014 as chief executive officer of Promise Hospital of Houston, Inc., then worked as a telecare RN in 2016.

While advancing in health care, he also pursued legal training. He served as a law clerk at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in 2017 during his time in law school. After receiving his J.D. in 2019, he began practicing law in Texas. His early legal work included contract roles, such as with Miri & Associates, P.C., in 2020. He established the Law Offices of Omondi & Associates, PLLC that same year and later worked as a trial lawyer with Sorrels Law in 2021.

Omondi’s career combines clinical practice, hospital administration and courtroom work. That mix informs the cases he pursues. He handles matters that involve medical malpractice, health-care compliance and civil litigation. His background gives him direct exposure to hospital operations, critical care settings and executive management, and that experience shapes his approach to evidence and witness handling in medical cases.

He maintains memberships that reflect both sides of his career. He is a member of the Houston Young Lawyers Association and the American Nurses Association. Those affiliations connect him to peers in law and nursing and to continuing education opportunities in both fields.

Colleagues describe him as someone who moves between two professions rather than leaving one behind. He divides his time between litigation work and advising clients on health-care related legal questions. He currently practices in Texas and handles civil litigation and health-care matters in his law practice.
