About Tom
Tom Groth built his path to law from two different classrooms. He earned a B.A. in 2007 from Stonehill College, where he studied philosophy, accounting and investments. He completed his J.D. at Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2012, taking courses in tax law, business law, securities law and estate planning.
After law school he moved quickly into practice. In 2013 he worked with Parent, Parent & Wynn and handled matters through IRS Medic. That same year he opened the Law Office of Thomas S. Groth LLC, stepping into the role of principal and taking on a range of client matters. The early years of his career combined courtroom and client-side experience with an emphasis on tax-related issues.
In 2015 Groth joined Glouzgal Ramos Groth LLP as a partner. His time there added a collaborative dimension to his work. He managed cases alongside other attorneys and broadened the firm’s handling of tax and business matters. Two years later he launched G&G Law LLC, returning to an owner-lawyer model and building a practice that reflected the areas he had focused on in law school.
In 2022 he established Tom Groth Law PLLC. That firm is his current practice vehicle. Over time his caseload has included disputes and filings that intersect with federal tax procedure as well as business and estate concerns. He has appeared in matters tied to the United States Tax Court and has handled appeals that touch the federal courts, including the Second Circuit.
Groth is admitted to practice in Connecticut and is a current member of the Connecticut State Bar. He also holds admission in the United States Tax Court and has experience litigating and advising on issues that arise in that forum. His legal education in securities law and estate planning plays a recurring role in client work, especially where business transactions and estate matters overlap.
He combines solo-firm leadership with courtroom experience at both administrative and federal levels. That combination has shaped how he approaches fee arrangements, client intake and litigation strategy. He currently practices at Tom Groth Law PLLC, handling tax, business, securities and estate planning matters.
