About Tom F. Hirschauer
Tom F. Hirschauer III grew up studying ideas as much as the rules that govern them. He earned an associate degree from Holy Cross College in 2000, then completed a B.A. in philosophy at Xavier University in 2002. He went on to receive a J.D. from Ave Maria School of Law in 2005.
His entry into public service came a few years after law school. In 2008 he joined the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office as a deputy prosecuting lawyer. That post placed him in courtrooms frequently and required fast thinking under pressure. The work gave him a direct view of how cases are developed and tried from the state’s perspective.
By 2015 he had moved into private practice and served as a partner and lawyer at Keffer Barnhart LLP. The partnership title reflected a shift toward leading client matters and managing more complex litigation. He handled hearings, filings and courtroom appearances, and collaborated with colleagues on case strategy.
Hirschauer’s background in prosecution shapes the way he evaluates evidence and prepares for trial. He is comfortable in criminal justice settings and familiar with the deadlines and procedures that govern state prosecutions. That experience also informs his work on related civil matters, where understanding how opposing counsel thinks can make a practical difference.
A member of the Indiana State Bar, Hirschauer is licensed to practice in Indiana. He has worked in both public and private roles in the state and has built a practice based on hands-on courtroom experience and case preparation.
Today he works out of Keffer Hirschauer LLP in Indiana. Colleagues describe him as methodical in court filings and deliberate in oral argument, preferring clear presentation over flourish. He continues to devote much of his time to matters that arise under Indiana law. His current practice focuses on representation in matters arising under Indiana law.
