About Timothy J
Timothy J Colgan earned his J.D. from Widener University in 1993 after completing a B.S. in Marketing and Business Law at The Pennsylvania State University at University Park in 1987. He moved into legal work during a period when alternative dispute resolution and court-involved family services were expanding in Pennsylvania. That educational foundation informed a career that has mixed litigation, mediation and coordinated family services.
Early in his career he served as a lawyer examiner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Medical CAT Fund in 1996. He then joined The Wiley Group as an associate in 1997 and became a partner there in 1998. He later entered a partnership at Colgan Marzzacco LLC in 2008 and opened his own firm, Colgan & Associates, LLC, in 2011.
Over the years Colgan has taken on roles inside the court system as well as in private practice. He served as a custody mediator for the York County Court of Common Pleas from 2010 to 2015. In 2019 he began serving as a parenting coordinator for the same court, a position he continues to hold.
