About Timothy Francis

Timothy Francis Schweitzer earned his law degree from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 1999 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in finance at Hofstra University in 1986. He moved from academic study into courtroom practice at a time when both New York and New Jersey courts were busy with commercial and maritime litigation. The combination of a finance undergraduate degree and a law degree laid a foundation for work that often crosses state and federal lines.

He is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York and maintains memberships in several professional organizations. Those memberships include the American Association for Justice, the New Jersey Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New Jersey Association for Justice and the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He has been active in national trial-lawyer circles for many years. Within the American Association for Justice he served as Section Secretary from 2008 to 2009 and then as Section Vice-Chairman from 2009 to 2010. He has also maintained other long-term professional affiliations since 2000.

Colleagues and opponents alike see evidence of his interest in trial work and maritime matters in the organizations he joins and the venues where he appears. Membership in the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the New Jersey Association for Justice aligns with a practice that engages in litigation. Likewise, participation in the Maritime Law Association of the United States indicates experience in matters touching maritime and admiralty law. His training at a law center known for practical skills complemented a career that has included courtroom appearances and association leadership.

Schweitzer practices from the New York and New Jersey offices of Hofmann & Schweitzer. He divides his time between those offices and handles matters arising under state and federal law in both jurisdictions. Over the years he has combined trial work, professional association service and case handling in two neighboring states. His current practice concentrates on litigation in New York and New Jersey.
