About Timothy Arthur

Timothy Arthur Rimer earned his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School after completing a B.A. at the University of Michigan–Dearborn. He took the conventional route through law school and into the Michigan bar. His academic background combined urban legal training and a liberal arts undergraduate experience in Michigan.

He is admitted to practice in Michigan and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. That dual admission allows him to appear in state trial courts and in federal district court. Over the years he has built a practice that uses both forums depending on what a matter requires.

Rimer’s career has been anchored in Michigan courts. He has handled filings, hearings, and courtroom appearances in both state and federal venues. He prepares pleadings, argues motions and participates in trials when the case moves to that stage. His work reflects the procedural demands of litigation as much as the substantive law underlying each case.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in courtroom preparation and direct in oral argument. He takes care with factual development and legal research. That approach shapes how he constructs case strategies and manages client expectations. He balances written advocacy with in-person presentation to advance client positions in contested matters.

Outside the courtroom, Rimer has engaged in the routine practices that sustain litigation: discovery management, deposition practice and negotiation. He handles the practical tasks that often determine the pace and outcome of a case. He pays attention to deadlines and court procedures, recognizing that cases turn on both legal argument and procedural execution.

His admissions to state and federal courts put him in a position to guide clients through options that cross jurisdictional lines. He can move matters from state to federal forums when appropriate and adjust litigation tactics accordingly. That flexibility is useful in matters that involve federal statutes, diversity questions or other circumstances that bring federal courts into play.

He continues to practice in Michigan and maintains his federal admission in the Eastern District of Michigan. He serves clients in state and federal courts and manages the full life cycle of litigation from initial pleadings through resolution in court or by settlement, focusing his current practice on matters pursued in those Michigan and federal venues.
