About Tim
Tim Riswold moved from studying history into the practice of law. He earned a B.A. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2014. He completed his J.D. at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2018. Those years shaped a practical approach to the work he later took on as a clerk and then as an attorney.
Early in his career he worked in legal services. In 2016 he served as a law clerk at the Legal Services of Northern California Mother Lode Office through the VLSP program. That role placed him inside a nonprofit office where he assisted on cases and learned client intake, file management and the basics of advocacy under supervision. In 2018 he spent time as a law clerk in the Law Office of Edward C. Koons, gaining hands-on exposure to the workflows of a small civil practice.
Shortly after finishing law school he moved from clerking to practicing. In 2018 he took on the role of lawyer at the Law Office of Edward C. Koons. Two years later he was listed as a lawyer at Koons & Riswold, a change that reflects continuity in his work with colleagues he had already been connected to. The move also marked his steady presence in private practice in California.
Those steps—nonprofit legal work followed by time in a small private firm—can shape an attorney’s perspective. Riswold’s resume shows experience on both sides of that divide. He has handled tasks typical for new attorneys working closely with supervising counsel, and he has continued in client-facing roles since becoming a lawyer. He is a member of the State Bar of California and practices under that jurisdiction.
He remains based at Koons & Riswold. His record shows an early foundation in legal services and an uninterrupted progression into private practice since earning his J.D. He currently practices at Koons & Riswold, providing legal services in California.
