About Tim
Tim George earned a J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 1989 after completing a bachelor’s degree in economics at St. Bonaventure University the same year. He entered the legal field at a time when courtroom experience and service intersected in his career choices. His academic background provided a base for practice and for later military legal work.
Early in his career he served part time as an Assistant District Lawyer in the Erie County District Lawyer’s Office in 1996. That position put him in the public arena and gave him hands-on experience in criminal matters at the county level. He continued to engage with the local bar, taking leadership roles in Erie County’s legal community over the years.
In 2003 he joined the Judge Advocate General’s Corps as a judge advocate with the 28th Combat Aviation Brigade, a role he held through 2013. That decade in the JAG Corps involved advising commanders, handling military legal matters and working inside the armed services’ justice system. After active service in the brigade, he transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserve. Beginning in 2013 he served in the 9th Legal Operations Detachment and holds the rank of Major as a judge advocate in the reserve component.
His bar and professional affiliations reflect sustained involvement in criminal practice. He is a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar. Locally, he has been part of the Erie County Bar Association’s criminal section, serving as co-chair since 2011 and earlier serving as chair of the Criminal Practice Committee in 2007. Those roles have kept him connected to practitioners and to developments in state criminal procedure and practice.
In private practice he is associated with Purchase & George, P.C. At the firm he applies his county and military courtroom experience to representing clients. His work traverses the civilian criminal justice system and the demands that military-related legal questions can create for service members and their families.
Colleagues and clients see a practitioner who has moved between public service, military law and private practice. He balances courtroom work, advising on military justice questions and participating in local bar leadership. He currently practices at Purchase & George, P.C., handling criminal matters and legal issues arising from military service.
