About Tiffany

Tiffany Provence built a legal foundation that began at the University of Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications in 1994. She continued her studies at the University of South Carolina School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1998. Those classroom years set the stage for a career that has moved between the bench and private practice.

Early in her career she was appointed Probate Court Judge in Dorchester County in 1998. The appointment placed her in the day-to-day work of probate matters, guardianship issues and estate administration. Serving on the bench gave her direct exposure to the procedural and human elements that shape probate litigation and court-run processes.

Provence’s professional credentials include certification as a mediator for both Circuit Court and Family Court through the South Carolina Bar Association. She has been a member of the National College of Probate Judges since 2000, a sign that probate work has remained central to her interests. Those memberships put her in regular contact with judges and practitioners who handle complex estate issues across the state and country.

Her involvement in professional and civic organizations runs long and deep. She has served as second vice president of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges since 2007. In the same year she became chairperson of the Dorchester County Personnel Committee. She also holds membership in the National Association of Women Judges, the Berkeley County Bar Association and the Dorchester County Bar Association, where she has been active since 1998.

In 2008 Provence moved into private practice leadership as managing partner of Provence Messervy Law. The role brought administrative responsibility on top of case work. It also meant steering a small firm through the practical demands of client service, courtroom preparation and alternative dispute resolution. Her background as a judge informs how she assesses cases and prepares clients for what to expect in court or at the mediation table.

She maintains an active practice at Provence Messervy Law. Her work involves probate administration, estate-related disputes and mediation services in South Carolina. She continues to divide time between courtroom appearances, mediated settlements and the management of firm matters, handling probate and estate matters in her current practice focus.
