About Tiera J.

Tiera J. Fletcher combines an engineering background and legal training in a practice that centers on intellectual property. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University, and later returned to the same school for a Juris Doctor at Villanova University School of Law. Her academic path gave her a grounding in both the technical and legal sides of patent work.

After law school, Fletcher moved into intellectual property work. She served as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office beginning in 2018. That role put her on the front lines of patent examination. She reviewed applications, interpreted claim language and applied patent law to technical disclosures. The examiner position also provided direct experience with the procedures and standards applied by the USPTO.

Fletcher is a Registered Patent Lawyer with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In 2023 she joined White and Ng as a patent and trademark lawyer. Her practice at the firm involves counseling clients on patent matters and handling trademark issues. The transition from examiner to private practice sharpened her perspective on prosecution strategy and administrative procedures.

Her technical background in mechanical engineering informs her approach to patent matters. She evaluates inventions through both an engineer’s and an attorney’s lens. That combination helps when preparing patent applications, responding to office actions and advising on claim scope. She works on matters that require translating technical concepts into clear legal descriptions.

Colleagues and clients see her practice as methodical. She moves deliberately through prior art searches, claim drafting and procedural deadlines. In the firm setting she collaborates with inventors, in-house counsel and outside litigators when issues escalate beyond prosecution.

Fletcher is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania. Her professional credentials include USPTO registration, which authorizes her to file and prosecute patent applications before the agency. She continues to handle patent prosecution and related trademark matters at White and Ng, where she practices intellectual property law.
