About Jackelyn Niky
Jackelyn Niky Wooding graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law before launching into a career that blends courtroom work and transactional practice. She took the standard path of bar admission and then built relationships across Maryland’s legal community. Her education provided a foundation in litigation and client counseling that continues to shape her approach.
Early in her career Wooding secured admission to the Maryland bar and later gained the right to appear before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. She maintains active memberships in several professional organizations. Those affiliations include the Maryland State Bar, the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, and the Prince George’s County and Montgomery County bar associations. She is also a member of national groups such as the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association.
Her association list reflects the areas of law she spends most of her time on: intellectual property, entertainment and sports law, and related civil litigation. That work can range from negotiating contracts and counseling creators to litigating disputes in state and federal court. Colleagues describe her as methodical and practical in case preparation, preferring clear written work and careful court filings over rhetorical flourish.
Wooding’s practice has a mix of transactional matters and courtroom appearances. She handles licensing and rights issues as well as contract disputes tied to the entertainment and sports industries. When litigation is necessary she represents clients at deposition and trial preparation stages and files pleadings in both state and federal forums where she is admitted to practice. Her role often requires coordination with other professionals, including agents, managers and industry advisors, to resolve disputes or close deals.
Outside of client work she engages with professional groups to stay current on developments in intellectual property and entertainment law. Her bar association activities provide a steady stream of continuing education and networking that feed directly into the practical work she performs for clients.
She currently practices at The Wooding Firm, where her work centers on intellectual property, entertainment and sports law and related civil litigation.
