About Tiara

Tiara Thomas built her legal foundation at Grambling State University and completed her law degree at Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law. She arrived in the Dallas legal community prepared for courtroom work and practice management. Law school shaped her approach to client service and advocacy. It also led to bar admission and federal court eligibility that structure the cases she takes today.

Her early career included the standard mix of clerkships, small-firm practice and courtroom appearances that many young lawyers experience. Over time she focused on matters that require both state and federal filings. She is admitted to practice in Texas and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Those credentials permit her to handle cases that move between local and federal forums.

Outside casework, Thomas engaged with bar organizations that concentrate on professional development. She is a current member of the Texas Bar College, an organization that emphasizes continuing legal education for lawyers across the state. Since 2019 she has served as Solo & Small Firm Committee Co-Chair for the Dallas Association for Young Lawyers. That role places her in regular contact with other lawyers starting or managing small practices and involves planning CLEs, panel discussions and networking events tailored to smaller firms.

Her colleagues describe her as someone who balances courtroom readiness with the administrative demands of running cases. She has experience drafting pleadings, managing discovery and presenting arguments in hearings where federal and state procedure meet. She also brings that practical skill set to work for clients who need representation in multiple forums.

Thomas is currently an attorney at Thomas & Mimms. The firm handles matters in Texas courts and in federal court when cases require it. At Thomas & Mimms she works on filings and hearings that arise in both jurisdictions, often coordinating strategy when a matter spans state and federal systems. Her committee work in the Dallas Association for Young Lawyers complements the practice, keeping her connected to the local legal community and to the educational programming that many small firms rely on.

She continues to practice in Texas and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, handling matters that proceed in state and federal court.
