About Thomas
Thomas Vaclavek earned his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, receiving his J.D. in 2000. His legal studies in Chicago prepared him for practice in Illinois courts and for the administrative and client-facing work that often follows a law school education.
He has been an active member of the State Bar of Illinois since 2000. Soon after beginning practice, Vaclavek became involved in the McHenry County legal community. He joined the McHenry County Bar Association the same year he joined the state bar and has remained an engaged member for more than two decades.
Vaclavek’s involvement in the county bar association moved from membership to leadership over several years. He served as the association’s treasurer from 2021 to 2022, then as secretary from 2022 to 2023. In 2023 he was elected vice president and served through 2024. Those roles required work on budgets, meeting agendas and member communications, and they placed him in regular contact with judges, court staff and fellow attorneys in McHenry County.
In practice he is affiliated with Vaclavek Hartman Vaclavek, PC. He maintains an office in Illinois and handles matters that arise in local and regional courts. Colleagues describe him as steady in courtroom settings and attentive in client consultations. Over time he has balanced casework with the organizational tasks that come from bar association leadership, often representing individuals and businesses on issues that require familiarity with Illinois procedures and local practice norms.
Outside of formal leadership posts, Vaclavek has continued to participate in the local bar’s activities, including meetings, continuing legal education opportunities and community-oriented programs. That steady presence in McHenry County has made him a regular participant in the local legal network. He currently practices law in Illinois at Vaclavek Hartman Vaclavek, PC, where his work centers on serving clients in McHenry County and the surrounding area.
