About Thomas Martin
Thomas Martin Marks earned his J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2011. He moved into government work soon after graduation, taking an early law clerk position in 2010 that exposed him to public-sector legal practice. That formative year preceded roles in county prosecutor's offices that would shape his approach to courtroom work.
Marks began his prosecutorial career in Pulaski County in 2011, working as a deputy prosecuting lawyer. He later joined the Washington County Prosecutor's Office in 2014, again serving as a deputy prosecuting lawyer. Those years in county prosecution involved case preparation, courtroom appearances and coordinating with investigators. He also spent time in academic settings; in 2016 he taught as an adjunct professor at Northwest Arkansas Community College.
In 2018 Marks stepped into private practice as a principal at Marks Law Office. That move followed a steady progression from public-sector roles to leadership in his own practice. He has been involved in trial work and litigation on both sides of criminal matters, drawing on his years in county prosecutor's offices. His résumé also lists an early clerkship in 2010 at the Arkansas Lawyer General, which provided experience in state-level legal processes.
Marks maintains memberships in several professional organizations that reflect his interests in trial and criminal defense work. He is a member of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association and the Arkansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and he belongs to the Benton County Bar Association and the Arkansas Bar Association. Those affiliations connect him to continuing education, local bar activities and networks of litigators across the state.
Office listings show his current association with Nelson & Marks PLLC. That private-practice role follows his time leading Marks Law Office and reflects an ongoing mix of litigation and courtroom practice. He balances casework with occasional teaching and bar involvement. He currently practices at Nelson & Marks PLLC, where his work centers on criminal defense and civil litigation.
