About Thomas M.

Thomas M. Power came to law from a midwestern undergraduate education. He earned a B.A. from St. Xavier University in 1980 and continued his studies at The John Marshall Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1985. Those years shaped his early understanding of litigation and courtroom procedure.

He built a practice in Illinois courts soon after graduating. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, and he holds admission to the Seventh Circuit and to the Northern District of Illinois Federal Trial Bar. Those credentials allowed him to handle matters in both state and federal court.

Power’s career has been anchored in trial work. He litigates cases and appears in court regularly. Over time he developed experience in pretrial strategy, motion practice, and jury trials. He also has handled appeals in the Seventh Circuit when cases required further review. The record shows steady courtroom activity rather than a career spent primarily at the negotiating table.

Outside the courtroom he has remained involved in professional groups. He holds current memberships in the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He is also active in the Legislative Committee and is a member of the American Bar Association. Those affiliations inform his practice and keep him connected to developments in state and federal law.

Power is based at Power Rogers & Smith, P.C., where he practices alongside other litigators. At the firm he handles civil matters that proceed to trial and those that require federal court filings. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases for trial and persistent in court hearings.

He practices in both trial and appellate forums, relying on years of courtroom experience and federal admissions to pursue matters through litigation or appeal when necessary. He continues to accept cases and appears regularly in Illinois and federal courts. His current practice concentrates on civil litigation in state and federal venues.
