About Thomas E.
Thomas E. Rossmeissl built a career that moves between big firm practice, private banking, and independent counsel work. He trained in law school and then took roles that would shape a steady turn toward trusts and estates. His background blends litigation skills and fiduciary practice.
He earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Davis in 1984 and completed his J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center in 1990. Those academic years preceded a string of early associate positions at national and regional firms, where he handled ordinary transactional and litigation matters while developing an interest in fiduciary law.
His first professional posts after law school included a role at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in 1990, followed by time at Rosenblum Parish & Isaacs in 1992 and Skjerven Morrill LLP in 1994. He returned to the courthouse as a staff lawyer and judicial law clerk in 1999 at the United States District Court. That clerking experience informed the way he approached disputes and statutory interpretation in client matters.
In the 2000s he moved deeper into trusts and wealth management. He joined Mount & Stoelker as a trusts and estates lawyer in 2002 and then served as a regional trust manager for Wells Fargo Private Bank beginning in 2006. He later worked on trust and estate matters at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in 2008 and again took a judicial staff lawyer position at a United States Federal Court in 2009. In 2010 he became a partner at Terra Law LLP and in 2015 opened his own practice, the Law Office of Thomas E. Rossmeissl.
Rossmeissl is admitted to practice in California and before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law, a designation granted by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. That credential reflects additional testing and experience in probate, trust administration, and estate planning topics.
He has maintained long-standing ties to local bar organizations. He has been involved with the Silicon Valley Bar Association as a trustee since 2002 and has been a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association since 1993. Those memberships have run alongside his private practice and in-house appointments.
Today he operates the Law Office of Thomas E. Rossmeissl. His practice concentrates on estate planning, trust administration and probate matters.
