About Thomas

Thomas Church began his academic path at Emory University, where he earned a B.A. in sociology and history in 2012. He went on to pursue a law degree at the University of Georgia School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2017. Those years framed his understanding of social forces and institutional rules, a background he carries into his legal work.

After law school, Church entered practice in Georgia. He gained admission to practice in the state and also holds admission to the Federal Circuit. Those credentials allow him to handle matters in state courts and to pursue federal appellate work when cases require it. He maintains an active membership in the State Bar of Georgia.

Church's professional affiliations reflect the kinds of work he does. He is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also holds membership in the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association. The combination of local and national group involvement keeps him connected to peers and to developments in criminal defense and appellate practice.

In Metro Atlanta, Church has built a practice that combines trial work and appellate advocacy. He represents clients in criminal matters at various stages, from initial appearances through post-conviction proceedings. He also takes cases that raise legal questions requiring appellate briefing. His admission to the Federal Circuit provides an avenue for federal appellate filings when federal issues are at stake.

Colleagues describe Church as methodical in preparing pleadings and arguments. He approaches research with attention to precedent and statutory detail. He balances courtroom work with written advocacy, spending time drafting briefs and motions as well as appearing in hearings. That mix suits cases that demand both tactical courtroom decisions and sustained legal analysis.

Outside the courtroom, Church participates in professional groups that discuss criminal law trends and appellate practice. He attends continuing legal education and joins discussions aimed at improving defense advocacy. Those activities fit into a practice centered on representing individuals facing criminal charges and pursuing appellate remedies when legal errors arise.

He works from an office in Metro Atlanta and continues to serve clients in Georgia and in matters suitable for federal appellate review. His current practice focuses on criminal defense and appellate representation.
