About Thomas Boyers
Thomas Boyers V frequently frames his work in straightforward terms: steady and practical. He began his formal legal education at Cumberland University, where he earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice and History in 1994. He went on to attend Nashville School of Law and received his J.D. in 2000. Later training includes civil mediation and conflict management studies completed at Lipscomb University in 2011, and he holds Rule 31 civil mediator certification from the Tennessee Supreme Court.
His career path runs through both investigative and courtroom roles. After college he served as an adult probation officer for the State of Tennessee. The next year he moved into criminal investigation for the state. Those early years in supervision and fact-gathering led naturally to trial work. In 2000 he joined the public defender’s office as an assistant public defender. That same year he entered private practice as a partner in Pellegrin and Boyers.
Ten years later he opened his own practice. Since 2010 he has been the lawyer and owner of Thomas Boyers V, Lawyer at Law. Over more than two decades he has also maintained admissions before the Tennessee Supreme Court and the United States District Court. He keeps active in professional circles, holding memberships in the Tennessee Bar Association, the Sumner County Bar Association, the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also a member of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
Boyers's background combines prosecutorial-adjacent and defense-side experience. The early probation and investigator roles provided a grounding in case development and supervision. His years as an assistant public defender offered courtroom and client-facing work on criminal matters, while private practice brought civil work and mediation into the mix. He earned mediator credentials after entering practice, adding a formal dispute-resolution option to his services.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and direct in courtroom presentation. He balances negotiation and trial work depending on what each matter requires. His office handles criminal defense and related civil matters and offers mediation under Rule 31. His practice concentrates on criminal defense and civil mediation.
