About Thomas A.
Thomas A. French earned his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law in 1983. He completed his legal training at a time when the practice of law was undergoing change, and he entered the profession equipped for both courtroom work and counseling clients. His law school years set the groundwork for a multi-decade career in Pennsylvania.
After law school, French established his practice in Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect a license to operate in state courts and the capacity to undertake matters that can reach the nation’s highest court. He has maintained a steady presence in Pennsylvania legal circles over the years.
French’s work has been based out of two offices that serve different parts of the state. He splits his time between a Suburban Philadelphia office and an office in Harrisburg. That arrangement allows him to handle matters that arise in both the southeastern and central regions of Pennsylvania. It also positions him to appear where clients, tribunals and administrative bodies are located.
Over the course of his career, French has engaged in litigation and transactional matters. He has prepared pleadings, appeared in court, and handled negotiations. He has also navigated procedural requirements for state and federal filings. His practice reflects the variety of tasks that come with representing individuals and organizations in Pennsylvania.
French maintains current professional memberships in legal associations. Those memberships keep him connected to developments in case law and procedure, and to the professional network that supports ongoing practice. He has balanced private practice obligations with participation in the institutional life of the bar.
Colleagues and clients describe him as methodical and matter-of-fact in his approach. He tends to break complex problems into concrete steps. He does not seek the spotlight. His work is centered on resolving the immediate legal issues his clients face.
As of 2026, French continues to serve clients from his Suburban Philadelphia and Harrisburg offices, handling matters that arise under Pennsylvania law and in fora that may include federal venues and the U.S. Supreme Court. His current practice focuses on representing clients in litigation and related legal matters in Pennsylvania.
