About Theresa
Theresa Viera has practiced law in North Carolina since earning her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012. She entered the profession at a time when local courts were busy and clients needed clear legal guidance. Viera learned to move quickly and to explain complex rules in plain language.
She completed her law degree at UNC Chapel Hill, receiving her J.D. in 2012. The law school years shaped her early approach to problem solving. They also introduced her to the practical demands of client work and courtroom procedure.
Her first position after graduation was as an associate at McIlveen Family Law Office, where she joined the firm in 2012. That role put her in frequent contact with clients facing personal and family disputes. She handled case preparation, appeared in hearings, and worked on negotiated resolutions under the supervision of more senior attorneys.
In 2016 Viera moved to Sodoma Law, P.C., taking on broader responsibilities as a lawyer. The practice there exposed her to a wider variety of matters and to different styles of representation. She spent those years refining client intake, drafting pleadings, and managing the practical tasks that keep cases moving.
In 2020 she founded Modern Legal and serves as its founder and lawyer. Starting her own firm required shifts in daily work. She balanced client representation with the administrative and strategic decisions that come with running a small practice. Modern Legal operates in North Carolina and handles client matters through the firm structure she established.
