About Taylor
Taylor Goodnight earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before returning to Chapel Hill for her law degree at the University of North Carolina School of Law. Her academic record placed her in the legal community of the state early on, and she remained tied to North Carolina through law school activities and coursework that emphasized litigation and public law.
After law school she joined Fialko Law, PLLC as an associate in 2016. That role put her into daily practice on matters that proceed in both state and federal courts. She is admitted to practice in North Carolina, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Those admissions align with the kinds of cases the firm takes and have led to work that spans initial hearings, pretrial litigation and appellate filings.
Goodnight’s professional memberships reflect the areas of law she spends most of her time on. She belongs to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, organizations that concentrate on trial work and defense practice. Locally, she holds membership in the Mecklenburg County Bar Association and Women Lawyers of Charlotte. She is also a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Those affiliations keep her connected to continuing legal education and to networks of trial lawyers and appellate practitioners across the state and nation.
Colleagues describe her approach as steady and practical. She handles courtroom matters on a regular basis and prepares written advocacy for hearings and appeals. Her routine includes advising clients on procedural options, preparing motions, and representing clients at arraignments, hearings and jury trials when cases proceed to that stage. Her federal admissions enable her to take cases that cross state and federal lines, including appeals in the Fourth Circuit.
She remains based at Fialko Law PLLC, where she carries a caseload that involves criminal defense and related litigation in North Carolina and in federal courts in the region. Her current practice centers on criminal defense work in both state and federal courts.
