About Tara
Tara Cragen earned her law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law after completing her undergraduate studies at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. Her academic path stayed local. She trained in the Indiana legal system from the outset.
She joined Cohen & Malad, LLP where she works as an attorney. Her day-to-day involves collaborating with colleagues at a multi-attorney firm and engaging on matters that arise in Indiana. She has built a practice anchored in state courts and the networks that support litigation and advocacy in Indianapolis.
Licensed in Indiana, Cragen appears in matters before state tribunals and works with clients to address the procedural and substantive issues those forums present. She manages filings, hearings, and the negotiation that often accompanies dispute resolution. Her courtroom appearances and office work reflect the varied demands of practicing law at a firm that handles a range of civil matters.
Outside of firm duties, she maintains memberships in several professional organizations. She is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Indiana Public Defender Council. These affiliations provide a forum for continuing education, collegial exchange, and engagement in issues that affect practitioners across practice areas and courts.
Her time at Indiana University institutions informs how she approaches cases. The Robert H. McKinney curriculum and the broader Indianapolis legal community shaped her understanding of local procedure and professional expectations. That background helps when she briefs judges, prepares witnesses, or guides clients through settlement conversations.
At Cohen & Malad, LLP she works alongside litigation teams and supporting staff. The firm setting requires coordination across specialties and an attention to deadlines. Cragen contributes to that workflow through case preparation, client counseling, and legal research directed at resolving disputes for those who hire the firm.
She continues to practice law in Indiana and remains active in bar activities that relate to professional training and public service. She currently practices at Cohen & Malad, LLP, handling matters that arise in Indiana courts.
