About Taggart Harrison
Taggart Harrison Howard is an attorney based in Edwards, Colorado, with a diverse legal practice that encompasses criminal defense, civil litigation, mediation, small business, and real estate law. He earned his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1998. Prior to that, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1992. This educational background has provided him with a strong foundation for understanding complex legal issues and advocating for his clients. Mr. Howard began his legal career in April 1998 as a Deputy District Attorney for the Fifth Judicial District.
In this capacity, he managed the largest felony docket in the district, overseeing critical legal processes such as warrant approvals, advisements, motions hearings, jury trials, and sentencing hearings. His role extended beyond adult felonies; he also handled the juvenile docket, working closely with young offenders and their families to foster positive change and rehabilitation. Additionally, he managed a substantial county court docket, addressing misdemeanors that included domestic violence, wildlife crimes, and traffic offenses like driving under the influence and driving while ability impaired. In 2002, Mr. Howard transitioned to private practice, where he focused on criminal defense. He represents clients throughout the Colorado High Country, including both juveniles and adults accused of felonies, misdemeanors, and DUIs. His extensive trial experience, combined with his familiarity with local court systems and judges, has significantly contributed to his track record of success.

Beyond his work in criminal defense, Mr. Howard has also been actively involved in civil litigation, particularly in the realm of real estate law. Outside of his professional commitments, Mr. Howard enjoys spending time in the Rocky Mountains with his wife, Elyse, and their sons, Eli and Max. Their family activities include fly fishing, snowboarding, camping, and hiking, reflecting their love for the outdoors and the natural beauty of Colorado.
