About T. Phillip

T. Phillip Boggess trained first as an economist before turning to law. He holds a J.D. from Drake University (1996) and both a B.A. and an M.A. from Washington University in St. Louis (1993) in fields tied to economics and business. That combination of legal training and economic study shapes how he approaches client matters.

Early in his legal career he worked inside the federal court system. In 1995 he served as a judicial clerk intern at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. That placement exposed him to the procedural demands of bankruptcy practice and to the mechanics of case administration at the federal level. A year later he began practicing as a lawyer and established a private practice under his own name.

Since 1996 he has operated the Law Office of T. Phillip Boggess. He entered private practice immediately after finishing law school and the internship. Over the years he has handled matters that draw on both his legal training and his background in economics and business. He maintains admission in Illinois and has continued professional activity in that jurisdiction.

Boggess’s professional memberships reflect a range of interests. He has been a member of the American Bar Association since 1996 and remains active there. In the late 1990s he held affiliate or membership relationships with organizations beyond the traditional legal bar, including the National Association of Recording Arts & Sciences (affiliate membership, 1997–2000) and the Sports Lawyers Association (1996–2000). Those affiliations indicate past involvement in areas where law intersects with the entertainment and sports industries, even as his ongoing membership in the ABA has provided a continuing legal connection.

Colleagues and clients describe him as a lawyer who brings an analytical approach to problem solving, informed by training in economics. His career path — classroom study, a federal bankruptcy internship and more than two decades running a solo practice — has given him practical familiarity with litigation procedure, case management and client counseling. He maintains an office presence in Oakbrook Terrace and uses a LaGrange mailing address for client communications and filings. He currently practices through the Law Office of T. Phillip Boggess and handles matters arising under Illinois law.
