About T. Edward
T. Edward Williams began his path to law with a political theory degree from Mercer University and a law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he studied commercial law. He spent summers and semesters learning the rhythms of appellate courts and law offices. Early judicial internships gave him an inside view of case law and courtroom procedure.
While in law school he served as a judicial intern at the Colorado Court of Appeals in 2007 and later at the Colorado Supreme Court for Justice Greg Hobbs in 2009. Those placements were followed by a summer associate role at Benjamin, Bain and Howard in 2008. After graduating he worked in private practice in Denver and then joined Williams, LLP in 2011. Short stints at Benjamin, Bain, Howard and Cohen, LLC and at Ireland Stapleton Pryor and Pascoe, P.C. came next. He became partner and owner of Williams LLP in 2018.
Williams’s record shows steady movement between courtroom work and firm practice. He has practiced in both state tribunals and federal courts. His roster of admitted jurisdictions includes Colorado and New York, and he is admitted to practice before the 2nd and 10th U.S. Courts of Appeal. He also holds memberships in professional organizations that reflect his geographic and practice footprint.
He has been a member of the Colorado Bar Association since 2009 and the Denver Bar Association and American Bar Association since 2010. His admission to the New York bar and membership in the New York State Bar date to 2018. He participates in the New York City Bar Association’s Litigation Committee, a role he has held since 2018.
Those experiences shaped a practice anchored in litigation and commercial law matters. Colleagues describe his work as methodical and practical; clients and opposing counsel note a familiarity with appellate procedure across circuits. He has worked on cases at different stages, from trial-level disputes to appeals, and has navigated briefing and oral argument in both state and federal settings.
At Williams LLP he combines courtroom experience with firm management. He handles disputes that arise from commercial relationships and other civil litigation matters, and he continues to accept appellate work in the federal circuits where he is admitted. He currently serves as partner and owner of Williams LLP, where he handles litigation and appellate matters in state and federal courts, including the 2nd and 10th Circuits.
