About Svetlana

Svetlana Kristal followed an unconventional path into estate work. She earned a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2015, concentrating her studies on constitutional law, internet and software law, and professional responsibility. She then continued at Golden Gate for an LL.M. in estate planning, conferred in 2016. Those programs gave her both a broad doctrinal background and specialized training in how to structure effective legacy plans.

After completing her graduate work, Kristal set up a practice aimed at families and individuals seeking clear, practical estate documents. She is the principal and estate planning lawyer at Kristal Trust Law: Law Office of Svetlana Kristal. In that role she drafts wills and trusts, prepares powers of attorney and advance health care directives, and assists clients as they think through incapacity and succession issues. Her training in professional responsibility informs how she advises clients about fiduciary duties and the ethical dimensions of estate administration.

Kristal has been active in local professional groups since the mid-2010s. She has belonged to the Alameda County Bar Association since 2016 and to East Bay Trusts and Estates Lawyers since 2017. Those affiliations keep her connected to probate judges, trust litigators and elder law practitioners across the Bay Area. She uses those relationships to help clients who need referrals or conflict-sensitive guidance during probate or trust administration.

Her background in constitutional and internet law sometimes shows up in client matters that touch on digital assets, online account access and privacy concerns. She has written and advised on estate provisions that address access to digital property and the allocation of online accounts. The LL.M. in estate planning rounded out that earlier work and gave her a concentrated grounding in trust design, tax considerations and probate procedure.

Colleagues describe Kristal as methodical and straightforward when explaining complex estate choices. She breaks options down into plain language, and she documents agreed strategies in clear, usable instruments. Her office practices in California and handles matters typical of a small estate firm: drafting estate plans, administering trusts and guiding family executors through probate steps.

She currently practices estate planning at Kristal Trust Law: Law Office of Svetlana Kristal.
