About Susan Dale

Susan Dale Red trained in Texas and Connecticut before building a practice in New Haven. She earned a B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin and completed her law degree at Quinnipiac University School of Law. Those years set the technical foundation she uses in court and at counsel tables.

After law school, Red established herself in Connecticut’s legal community. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Her work spans trial-level criminal matters and appellate filings, and she has maintained a steady presence in local legal circles since joining the bar.

Red maintains memberships in organizations tied to both her geography and her work. She belongs to the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the New Haven County Bar Association. She also retains affiliation with Texas Exes, the alumni network connected to her undergraduate years. Those memberships keep her connected to peers and offer regular forums for continuing education and professional discussion.

In practice, Red handles criminal defense matters and appellate work. She appears in state courts in Connecticut and files briefs and arguments at the Second Circuit when cases require federal appellate review. The combination of trial practice and appellate advocacy means she divides time between courtroom appearances, brief writing, and client counsel.

Colleagues describe her as someone who prepares thoroughly. She values careful record review and clear explanation of legal options to clients. That approach informs how she manages cases: methodical intake, attentive discovery review, and targeted advocacy at hearing or on appeal. She participates in New Haven County Bar Association activities and contributes to discussions that address criminal procedure and appellate practice.

Her office sits directly across from Channel 8 News in New Haven, a location she has used as a base for client meetings and case work. From that office she handles arraignments, hearings, plea discussions, and appellate filings, coordinating with investigators and co-counsel when cases require additional resources. She balances court time with drafting briefs and preparing for oral argument.

Red continues to practice in Connecticut and before the Second Circuit, concentrating on criminal defense and appellate representation in both state and federal forums.
